Exquisite Chablis from two talented brothers in Chablis
We are delighted to have two parcels of fantastic Chablis as our first ever Cavex Cru offer.
Made by two brothers Xavier and Jerome Garnier, the latest of several generations of extremely talented wine makers in their family, these two vintages prove that if you plump for the right producer in Burgundy you can get Grand Cru quality Chablis for not much more than Village prices. Xavier and Jerome own just 19 hectares of vineyards in total and make small amounts of what we consider to be stunning Chablis.
These superbly elegant wines are made with grapes from three different communes – Ligny-le-Châtel, Maligny and Villy – each bringing their own unique quality to the final wines. Extended lees ageing gives the wine a wonderfully silky mouthfeel balanced out by characteristic racy acidity. In a nutshell, must buys for Spring/Summer.
“Pale lemon citrus on the nose with an edge of crushed oyster shells and lemon zest. Fruit on the palate is mainly citrus, but with subtle tropical, honeyed edge balanced out by wonderful salinity and a crisp, long, refreshing finish. Drinking perfectly now and for the next two to three years.”

“Classic mineral hit on the nose with ripe apple and fresh lemon notes. On the palate, linear, slatey, classic Chablis with a touch of pink grapefruit and again a notable and lovely salinity. Crisper and racier on the finish than the 2015 but equally generous. Drinking beautifully now and till 2025.”
